Ford has quietly built one of the most talked-about vehicles in the pickup segment, and it isn’t the Ford F-150. The Ford Maverick arrived as a compact pickup unlike anything else in the Blue Oval’s lineup, and it has been turning heads ever since. Small, practical, and available with a hybrid powertrain, it carved out a niche that many buyers didn’t even know they needed. The Ford Maverick stands out not just for its footprint, but for the choice it puts in front of buyers: a standard hybrid powertrain or a turbocharged Ford EcoBoost engine.

The hybrid option, in particular, delivers fuel economy figures that would embarrass many sedans – a remarkable achievement in a pickup truck body. As fuel costs remain a real concern for everyday drivers, that efficiency advantage only grows more compelling. With the Maverick now a few model years deep, used examples are hitting the market in meaningful numbers. That raises a practical question for buyers on both sides of the transaction: how well does the Ford Maverick Hybrid hold its value after two years of ownership?

The 2024 Ford Maverick Hasn’t Lost Much Value In Two Years

According to Kelley Blue Book, the 2024 Ford Maverick carries a fair purchase price of $24,600 to $29,000, placing its used price tag just slightly below what it cost when new. Ford’s compact pickup follows the same trend seen across the brand’s truck lineup, shedding a modest amount of value over its first year, but far less than many other vehicles in the same timeframe. New vehicles typically lose a portion of their value within the first year, largely due to accumulated mileage. Miles on the odometer put wear on mechanical components, raising the prospect of future maintenance costs that a brand-new truck wouldn’t carry. Even so, a single year of average use rarely triggers dramatic depreciation — most owners can expect to lose a few hundred dollars rather than thousands.

The Fair Purchase Price Ranges From $24,600 to $29,000

Ford’s 2024 small truck was incredibly affordable when it was released, and despite the low depreciation hit, it’s gotten slightly more cheaper. Now, let’s compare the 2024 Ford Maverick’s original MSRP to the fair market value of every available 2024 Maverick Hybrid trim.

Ford Maverick Fair Purchase Price vs. Original MSRP

KBB Fair Purchase Price

Original MSRP (When New)

2024 Ford Maverick XL

$24,600

$25,515

2024 Ford Maverick XLT

$26,200

$28,015

2024 Ford Maverick Lariat

$29,000

$35,835

Unsurprisingly, Ford’s small hybrid truck has depreciated in value across every trim level. Although the gap between trims is narrow, Kelley Blue Book‘s fair purchase price data shows that the base Maverick XL Hybrid has held its value best over the course of a year. The Lariat and XLT trims trail behind, respectively. So, the XL trim represents the strongest value proposition relative to its original MSRP. That said, the higher trims shouldn’t be dismissed — they may now offer more features for less than their original asking price, depending on the specific configuration.

A Few Recalls Which You Should Be Aware Of

Overall, the 2024 Ford Maverick was recalled eight times by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Its most recent recall involved a potential loss of drive power that could lead to a crash, affecting 8,727 vehicles. An earlier recall in late August addressed windshield wipers that could stop functioning, impacting a much larger 86,852 models. In-car electronics and body hardware have been the 2024 Maverick’s primary problem areas — a pattern that echoes the 2023 model, which also accumulated eight recalls during its run. On the safety front, the 2025 Maverick Hybrid earned 4 out of 5 stars in NHTSA crash testing for both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. That’s a respectable result for a compact truck, though segment rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Cruz have managed a perfect five-star score.

Ford Maverick Hybrid Warranty

If you’re weighing a brand-new model against a one-year-old example, it’s worth noting that the Ford Maverick Hybrid is backed by a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Based on average American annual driving distances, most owners will reach that mileage threshold in just over two years. The truck also carries a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile hybrid component warranty — meaningful coverage for the drivetrain components that matter most. So, the Ford Maverick Hybrid is well-covered where it counts. It may not yet rank among the most reliable trucks on the market, but the nameplate is still relatively young. If Ford can continue refining the Maverick’s build quality, its already strong popularity could climb further.

How Does It Compare To Its Rivals?

As has been the case since Ford introduced the compact pickup truck, the Maverick has no direct hybrid rivals in its segment. While that means the competitive landscape isn’t as heated as in some other classes, it makes the Maverick’s hybrid option all the more compelling by default. Among gas-only alternatives, the Hyundai Santa Cruz remains the most credible challenger. According to Kelley Blue Book, the fair purchase price of a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz ranges from $21,400 to $28,100.

In terms of power, the 2024 Santa Cruz produces 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, figures that sit close to the Maverick Hybrid’s output. The Hyundai does reach 60 mph in a quicker 6.6 seconds, but with a combined fuel economy of just 23 mpg, a used Ford Maverick Hybrid would cost considerably less to run over the long haul.
