Continental has announced an update to one of its longstanding road tires, the ContiMotion. Dubbed the ContiMotion EVO, the brand’s sport-touring tire receives a host of updates to help riders extract more performance, and mileage, out of their motorcycle tires.

Most of the engineering for the EVO update went into the tire’s construction itself. The EVO uses revised materials in the carcass, optimizing its feel and handling characteristics. Continental ties those changes to quicker turn-in compared with the outgoing ContiMotion. A reworked hybrid silica rubber compound is meant to grip better on wet pavement without sacrificing mileage. Silica-rich mixes are often used in tire design to encourage rapid warm-up times and also improve wet-weather traction.

What Carries Over

Three Continental technologies return. MultiGrip relies on temperature-controlled curing, leaving one compound with a harder middle and softer edges. Multi-compound tires have seams between rubbers of different hardness, which can create a noticeable change in feel when transitioning from one area of the tire to another. The brand’s single-compound approach avoids that problem altogether.

In addition, the German tire maker indicates that the ContiMotion EVO uses its EasyHandling technology and an optimized construction, resulting in what it describes as intuitive, agile steering. Of course, the ZeroDegree steel belt returns to the fold, and, paired with the new carcass materials, it’s credited with composure at highway speeds and above.

Continental hasn’t published wear or wet-braking figures against the outgoing tire, so, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how it performs in the real world.

Fitment and Availability

Continental is positioning the ContiMotion EVO as a sport-touring tire, though it doesn’t list any heavyweight models among its compatible bikes. In fact, the list is a collection of middleweight machines such as the Triumph Daytona 660, Suzuki GSX-8TT, Honda CB650R, and Yamaha MT-09, as opposed to full-sized sport-touring machines. However, with 180/55 and 190/50 rear tires available, many of today’s liter-class sport-touring motorcycles can be equipped with the ContiMotion EVO, provided they roll on 17-inch wheels at both ends. Either way, the sizing chart puts the tire maker’s new sport-touring rubber strictly in the middleweight and liter-class categories, with no sizes for lightweight motorcycles.

According to the brand, the ContiMotion EVO can also be mixed and matched with the original ContiMotion.

The EVO launches in four 17-inch sizes, one front and three rears, all W speed-rated (up to 168 mph). Three of the four are slated for October and November 2026, and the widest rear follows in November.
