LEPAS – a new, electrified car manufacturer – has officially launched in the UK with a VIP celebration event culminating in the unveiling of the new LEPAS L6 EV, which will be launched this autumn, and early models of the L6 PHEV and L4 EV.

More than 400 invited guests attended the event at Town Hall by Bottaccio in London’s King’s Cross to celebrate the brand’s arrival and mark the beginning of the next stage of its ambitious UK growth plans.

The UK is one of the most important strategic markets for LEPAS globally and will play a central role in the development of the brand as it expands into international markets.

This importance was underlined by the presence of senior executives, including Zhang Guibing, Executive Vice President of Chery Auto and President of Chery International, Charlie Zhang, Executive Vice President of Chery International and Zhai Xiaobing, CEO of LEPAS, who travelled from China especially to attend the launch.

There were also presentations from the brand’s Global Chief Designer, Ivan Dulanovic, alongside Gary Lan, CEO of Chery International in the UK, and Ray Wang, Managing Director of LEPAS UK.

The evening culminated in the unveiling of three important additions to the growing LEPAS model line-up. Taking centre stage was the new LEPAS L6 EV, shown in full UK specification ahead of its launch this autumn. The fully electric SUV will broaden the brand’s presence and sit alongside the brand’s flagship L8 PHEV, which launched late summer. Guests were also given a first look at preview versions of the LEPAS L6 PHEV, the versatile mid-size SUV and smaller L4 EV, a B-segment nimble urban SUV, offering attendees a future vision of the brand’s expanding UK portfolio.

Guests were also able to experience three specially created experience zones, each designed to showcase a different side of the LEPAS character, refinement, elegance and intelligence.

And the evening’s entertainment – a stunning live set from violin duo Stereo Twins, performed on electric LED instruments – gave a further flavour of LEPAS and its commitment to new energy mobility.

Commenting on the launch of the brand, Ray Wang, Managing Director at LEPAS UK said: ‘The UK is one of the world’s most mature and sophisticated automotive markets, and its importance to Chery goes far beyond sales. It is a market in which we want to build for the long term.

‘The launch of LEPAS is another important step in that journey. It brings a new choice to UK customers and demonstrates our commitment to delivering differentiated brand experiences by investing in new brands, new products and new technology for this market.’

Mr. Zhai, Global CEO of LEPAS, also highlighted the significance of the UK within LEPAS’ international expansion and the scale of the opportunity ahead.

‘What we appreciate about the UK is the way consumers here understand cars as part of their lifestyle. They value design, quality and individuality. This is exactly the kind of environment in which we believe LEPAS can grow.’

He continued: ‘We are not here simply to introduce another new energy vehicle brand. We come to offer Britain something distinct: a new expression of elegance that is confident yet understated, powerful yet effortless. We want to understand this market, work with local partners, and build LEPAS together with British consumers — not as a foreign brand arriving, but as a new choice born from shared values.’

Senior representatives from LEPAS’s rapidly growing UK retail network were also among the guests. More than 50 standalone LEPAS outlets are already in various stages of fitting out and construction, with some of the UK’s best-known dealer groups, including Arnold Clark and Stoneacre Motor Group, joining the network.

Around 60 LEPAS dealerships are targeted to be fully operational across the UK by the end of 2026, increasing to 90 by the end of 2027. Each will operate as a standalone, full-service LEPAS retailer, providing sales, servicing and aftersales support as the brand establishes nationwide coverage.

The event was also attended by representatives from LEPAS’ key strategic partners, including Black Horse and Lex Autolease, part of Lloyds Banking Group, which have been appointed to provide a comprehensive range of finance and leasing solutions to support LEPAS’ launch and future growth.

Black Horse, one of the UK’s leading vehicle finance providers, will provide retail finance products including Hire Purchase (HP), Business Contract Hire (BCH) and Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), as well as wholesale funding for the LEPAS dealer network. Finance will also be available on approved used LEPAS vehicles as they begin to enter the network.

Lex Autolease will complement this with Personal Contract Hire (PCH) and leasing solutions for private and business customers, giving LEPAS customers access to a broad range of funding options across its growing model range.

Representatives from DHL and the RAC were also present, reflecting the wider network of established partners LEPAS has put in place to support its UK operation and provide customers with a comprehensive ownership experience.

The launch also provided an opportunity to recognise some of LEPAS first UK customers with a special presentation to the first six members of the LEPAS Founders Club. Created exclusively for the brand’s first 500 UK customers, the Founders Club recognises those who have chosen to join LEPAS at the very beginning of its journey in the UK.

The first six members were invited to a private handover, where they were welcomed by the LEPAS team and presented with a special commemorative gift to mark the occasion.
