McLaren is closing out one of the most celebrated chapters in its history. Meet the new 788HS—the definitive, final evolution of the supercar bloodline that started with the 720S and matured through the 765LT and 750S.

The “HS” badge tells you everything. Standing for “High Sport,” it’s a designation McLaren reserves for only its most special machines, and until now just two cars have earned it: the MP4-12C HS and the MSO HS. The 788HS becomes the third. Add the most aggressive aero package ever bolted to the platform, hand-finished personalization through McLaren Special Operations, and a global run capped at just 200 cars split evenly between coupe and spider, and you’ve got a fitting send-off.

Step inside the 788HS and the priorities are immediately clear. McLaren has stripped the cabin back to a driver-centric layout where every element exists to sharpen focus and deepen the connection between machine and pilot.

The centerpiece is a lightweight carbon fiber center console—a detail that signals just how much obsession went into every gram of this car. It’s a small touch that speaks to the bigger philosophy: nothing here is decorative for its own sake.

This is where the “High Sport” identity comes alive. The 788HS wears exclusive HS branding throughout, tying the cabin to the rarefied badge worn by only two McLarens before it.

Look closer at the upholstery and you’ll find a unique perforation pattern developed specifically for this car. It’s the kind of quiet, tactile detail that separates a limited-run McLaren from the models it’s built upon.

Each 788HS carries a dedication plaque, a permanent reminder that this is the final chapter of a celebrated lineage—and that its owner holds one of just 200 examples built worldwide.

Driver-focused tech rounds out the cabin, with a steering column-mounted instrument binnacle and steering wheel-mounted Powertrain and Handling controls keeping everything at your fingertips. The McLaren Infotainment System II and McLaren Control Launcher handle the rest.

The 788HS wears the most sophisticated aerodynamic package ever applied to this platform. Every sculpted panel serves a purpose, working together to increase downforce by 10 percent over the 765LT—without compromising the car’s balance or dynamics.

The star of the show is an intricate Formula 1-inspired rear diffuser, paired with a raised active rear spoiler. Together they anchor the car to the road, delivering the kind of high-speed stability that builds real driver confidence.

Up front, a new S-Duct bonnet channels air with purpose, working in concert with a bespoke multi-zone front splitter. It’s a clean, functional statement that sets the tone for the entire design.

A louvred under-wing panel handles the less glamorous but critical job of powertrain cooling, while also contributing to overall aerodynamic efficiency. Form and function are inseparable here.
