A leaked 2027 Ford Ranger order guide, shows Ford ditching the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 for a detuned version of the Bronco Raptor’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. The new engine is expected to make 380 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, the same tune Ford is giving the 2027 Bronco when it drops the 2.7-liter from that lineup too.

Do the math against the Ranger Raptor’s 405 hp and 430 lb-ft, and the gap shrinks to almost nothing. A regular XLT or Lariat with this engine would trail the Raptor by just 25 horsepower while actually beating it on torque by 10 lb-ft. That’s Raptor-adjacent muscle without the Raptor’s Fox Live Valve shocks, Watts-link rear end, or the sticker price that comes with them.

The Order Guide Points To A Bronco-Style Engine Swap

The leak, originally surfaced by Autoevolution, lists the 2.7-liter EcoBoost as “Deleted” with the 3.0-liter EcoBoost marked “New/Changed”. The order guide doesn’t spell out horsepower or torque figures, but the pattern is already set.

Ford is making the same swap on the 2027 Bronco, where the Raptor’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo six gets detuned to 380 hp and 440 lb-ft for lower trims like Outer Banks, Badlands, and Heritage. There’s no reason to expect the Ranger version to land any differently, since both trucks share the same engine family and the same 10-speed automatic.

The base turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder isn’t going anywhere. It stays standard on XL, XLT, and Lariat with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft. The 3.0-liter would only be offered on XLT and Lariat 4×4 models, and it requires four-wheel drive, so rear-drive shoppers are locked out of the bigger engine entirely.

What It Could Cost, And What You’d Lose Versus A Real Raptor

Pricing for the 3.0-liter hasn’t surfaced yet. For reference, the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 currently runs $4,045 on the XLT (which also requires the XLT High package) and $2,295 on the Lariat for 2026. If Ford holds the line anywhere close to those numbers, a twin-turbo Ranger with the FX4 Off-Road package could end up looking like a budget Raptor on paper. What it won’t have is the suspension hardware that actually makes the Raptor what it is: no Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve shocks, no Watts-link rear axle, no 33-inch tires. The power will be there. The off-road chassis won’t be, at least not in this configuration.

Smaller Changes Fill Out The Rest Of The 2027 Update

Beyond the engine, the order guide points to new wheel designs and revised grille finishes on XLT and Lariat. Neptune Blue replaces Velocity Blue in the color lineup, and Carbonized Gray gets dropped entirely. Inside, the Sandstone interior color is reportedly being retired in favor of a new Space Gray option, and the base XL is said to be picking up a 12-inch touchscreen in place of the current 10.1-inch unit, along with dual-zone automatic climate control as standard equipment.

None of this is official yet. Ford hasn’t confirmed the engine change or any of the cosmetic updates, and everything here traces back to a leaked document rather than a company announcement. If the engine update holds up, though, it reshapes what buyers expect from a mid-size truck that doesn’t wear the Raptor name.
