Chinese manufacturer Benda is expanding its cruiser lineup with the Dark Flag 950, a near-liter-class motorcycle powered by a 948cc V4 engine. First unveiled at EICMA 2025, the Chinese manufacturer’s latest creation builds on the smaller Dark Flag 500’s four-cylinder formula with a larger engine, upgraded braking hardware, and more substantial dimensions. It’s also Benda’s most powerful production motorcycle to date.
The Dark Flag 950 is scheduled to reach its first European markets in late November 2026, with some markets listing it as a 2027 model. US availability and pricing haven’t been announced. Nevertheless, its combination of V4 power, Brembo brakes, and modern electronics gives Benda an interesting entry into a cruiser segment dominated by V-twins and parallel-twins.
The Dark Flag 950 features a liquid-cooled, 16-valve V4 engine producing 107.3 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 62.7 pound-feet of torque at 8,000 rpm. The 948cc powerplant has a 67mm bore, 67.2mm stroke, and 12.2:1 compression ratio. Benda claims a 0-to-62-mph acceleration time of 3.8 seconds, although independent testing has yet to verify that figure.
The V4 configuration isn’t new to Benda, as the Dark Flag 500 already introduced the layout to its cruiser lineup. However, the 950 gets a larger-displacement engine with much more performance. Power reaches the rear wheel through a six-speed manual transmission, a wet multi-plate slipper clutch, and a belt final drive.
Electronic throttle control and cylinder deactivation are also included. The latter shuts down cylinders during idling or light-load operation to reduce heat and fuel consumption. It’s a useful addition to a motorcycle with four cylinders packed into a relatively compact cruiser chassis.
Benda has equipped the Dark Flag 950 with a tubular steel frame and steel swingarm, supported by an inverted telescopic fork with 4.65 inches of travel. Twin hydraulic rear shock absorbers provide 1.97 inches of travel, replacing the more unconventional electronically adjustable air suspension offered on certain Dark Flag 500 variants.
The motorcycle has a 62.6-inch wheelbase, a low 27.2-inch seat height, and a claimed curb weight of 533.5 pounds. Its 4.23-gallon fuel tank provides a reasonable capacity for a cruiser of this displacement. Both wheels measure 16 inches, wearing 130/90 front and 180/65 rear tires. The resulting proportions follow the traditional cruiser formula, complete with wide tires, substantial fenders, and a low-slung silhouette.
Stopping power comes from dual 320mm front discs paired with radially mounted Brembo four-piston calipers. A single 260mm rear disc works with a Brembo two-piston caliper. It’s a comprehensive braking arrangement for the category, particularly compared with smaller cruisers that rely on a single front disc.
Standard electronic rider aids include ABS and traction control. Benda hasn’t confirmed an IMU or cornering-sensitive functionality, so these systems shouldn’t be confused with the lean-angle-responsive electronics becoming more prevalent on today’s motorcycles.
Would-be owners will find a 3.6-inch color TFT display with an advertised 800-nit brightness and 120-degree viewing angle. Cruise control, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and full LED lighting are also included. These features give the Dark Flag 950 a contemporary equipment package without departing from its cruiser-oriented design.
Five colors have been announced: Obsidian Black, Glimmering White, Burgundy Red, Mountain Silver, and Prism Grey. The motorcycle also features distinctive engine covers, stacked exhaust outlets, and a four-element LED headlight signature, carrying over design cues from Benda’s smaller V4-powered cruisers.
The Dark Flag 950 sits above the Dark Flag 500, offering considerably more power and displacement while retaining Benda’s unusual V4 approach. Its specs put it in competition with motorcycles such as the Honda Rebel 1100 and Indian Scout lineup, although both use different engine configurations and benefit from established US distribution networks.
For American buyers, pricing and availability remain unconfirmed, but European figures offer some context. The Dark Flag 950 starts at €10,990 in France, equivalent to approximately $12,330. Benda has confirmed European deliveries beginning in late November 2026, although a US launch remains uncertain.
