Six-Wheel Ford EcoSport Sells for $10,666 on BaT
A six-wheeled 2019 Ford EcoSport just sold on Bring a Trailer for $10,666, and it looks as odd as that sounds. Somebody cut a compact crossover open behind the rear doors, added a third axle, and bolted a wing to the roof. Adding a third axle is normally the preserve of Gulf state royalty and Texas tuning houses, and it usually comes with a six-figure price tag. This one came with a rebuilt salvage title and no reserve.
The strangest thing about this Ford isn’t the six wheels. It’s the comment section underneath the listing, which is funnier than most sitcoms, so we shall peel this onion, very slowly.
Mercedes-AMG charged around $511,000 for the G63 6×6 when it arrived, and heavily optioned examples pushed past $600,000. Only about 100 were built. Underneath sat a handcrafted 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 making 536 hp and 561 lb-ft, riding on portal axles with tire pressure the driver could adjust from the cabin.
Hennessey undercut it with the VelociRaptor 6×6 at $349,000, limited to 50 examples. That money bought an F-150 Raptor with locking rear axles, upgraded Fox suspension, and an extra set of wheels at the back.
Neither was really about capability, because the third axle has always been a luxury tax — a way of announcing you had money to spend on hardware you would never actually need. One G63 6×6 with 3,797 miles on it was later listed for $1.69 million, which tells you how the market treats them. Then somebody took the same idea to the opposite end of the price ladder.
A Salvage Title, “Most-Wheel-Drive” Six-Wheel EcoSport
Kincaid Kustom Kars of Ubly, Michigan, built this one, for a reason more sensible than the result suggests. Conrad Kincaid wanted a “billboard buggy” — a car so strange that people would read the ads on it. The side panels carried a graphic artist and a real estate agency, the rear window a baker and a power spraying company, and the tailgate promoted Kincaid Electric, a sister business.
Getting there meant cutting the EcoSport open behind the rear doors and bolting on a second subframe with its own pair of wheels. The original rear end was moved to the rearmost subframe, and custom panels filled the gap in the middle. A carpeted box now sits in the stretched cargo area, reached through a side-hinged swing gate.
A roof-mounted wing finishes the look, which one commenter appreciated: “Thank the maker it’s got a spoiler to keep the back planted.” Six 17-inch alloys wear Firestone WeatherGrip tires, and the ads are gone, leaving black paint and white pinstriping.
Nothing mechanical changed, so the 2.0-liter Duratec inline-four still makes 166 hp and 149 lb-ft through a six-speed SelectShift automatic, with drive going to the front and center wheels only. The rearmost pair just rolls along, which prompted the best spec joke calling it “a most wheel drive.”
The EcoSport began life as a jacked-up European Fiesta developed by Ford Brazil, a detail one commenter noted — reportedly, the Fiesta ST denied any relation to the six-wheeled EcoSport. It showed 47,000 miles and sold out of Virginia Beach at no reserve.
You Think You Hate It Now, Wait ‘Till You Drive It
“I sprained an ankle running to these comments,” one reader wrote, so consider this a warning. The seller set the tone himself by opening the auction with a line worth stealing: “You think you hate it now, wait ’til you drive it.”
The no-reserve format drew two versions of the same joke, and the pair works better than either alone. One bidder called it perfect “for those rare situations where there are no comps available.” Another decided the listing meant the seller had no reserve about selling it.
Most of the thread was occupied with the question of why. The best answer came from a commenter who guessed the builder owned a Pontiac Aztek, got tired of being told he drove the ugliest car on the road, and bought an EcoSport to settle the argument.
One commenter simply hoped the builder “was cured.” Another said: “of all the vehicles in the world that don’t need to be converted to a 6 wheeler… I think this is the don’t-iest.”
Someone offered “This is your Ford. This is your Ford on drugs,” while another reached for Airplane! with “looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.” One commenter went further and wrote an entire opening scene for a fictional Netflix series called Six of One, Half a Dozen of the Other.
A fair number of commenters assumed the second rear end was patching up crash damage, which is the one thing the thread got wrong. Carfax shows the first owner rear-ended another car at around 12,000 miles in 2019, so the damage was at the front. The best question in the whole thread might be the simplest: is it any worse looking than a Cybertruck?
Somebody Wanted It Enough To Pay $10,666
Kincaid asked $16,500 for it in 2023 and found no takers, then sent it through Mecum’s Indy Fall Special in October 2025, where it sold for $9,350. The current owner added roughly 500 miles and registered the car through the Montana title loophole under an LLC.
The hammer fell at $10,666, leaving the seller $1,316 up on a year of ownership. A car this strange closing on a number ending in 666 feels about right.
The panel work is genuinely tidy, the original reasoning was sound, and the result is still hard to defend. There are better ways to build rolling billboards, so we’re not totally sold, but if there is a better way to grab eyeballs for your ad campaign on the streets, we would love to find out.
