Although the Tucson, Sportage, and CR-V are all larger than the RAV4 overall, none can match the Toyota in fuel efficiency and trim selection. The RAV4 PHEV also offers a significant advantage in electric driving range, and Toyota offers the longest hybrid warranty on the market, protecting the hybrid powertrains for 10 years/150,000 miles. Kia and Hyundai offer a limited powertrain warranty of 10 years/100,000 miles, while Honda matches the industry standard of 8 years/100,000 miles for its hybrid powertrain.

The gas engine still requires oil changes, and the vehicle will still need regular maintenance of filters, fluids, brakes, and tires. The hybrid system will also need to be checked regularly to ensure it continues to perform as desired.

If you choose a Toyota RAV4 PHEV, you’ll want to consider installing charging equipment at home to keep the batteries charged. This adds additional one-time costs and will also increase your electric bill.
